Hampden-Sydney College’s football team faced a strong opponent in host Christopher Newport University on Saturday evening and lost 20-7.
“Honestly, I thought two of the three phases we improved (on) from week one — (defense) and our special teams were really good,” Tigers Head Coach Marty Favret said. “Offensively, we took a step back, and it cost us the game. For us to only score seven points, we’re not going to win many games in that situation.”
He highlighted the defensive performances of seniors Joe Everette and Benjamin Carson.
The Tigers (1-1) host the University of Wisconsin-Platteville on Saturday at 1 p.m.
