HAMPDEN SYDNEY — A transformer fire left students in the dark at Hampden-Sydney College on Friday night.
According to the college’s website, as of 9:31 p.m., there was a power outage on campus “due to a transformer fire. Dominion Power advises 2-3 hours to restore service.”
On Friday, Hampden-Sydney soccer opened the season against Averett “in interesting fashion,” according to its website. “The game went to overtime tied at 2-2, but just 3:05 into the extra frame, a power outage from a transformer fire left most of the campus without power and the game was called.”
