A 45-year-old Cumberland County woman was found guilty on 10 charges, including forgery/uttering and identity theft  in connection to the defrauding of another woman from the county between 2007 and 2012 in Cumberland County Circuit Court on Tuesday.

According to online court records, Kimberly Duncan was found guilty on seven charges of forgery/uttering, in which she was sentenced to 70 years in jail with 69 years and three months in jail suspended with 30 years of supervised probation; one charge of identity theft, in which she was sentenced to five years in jail with five years in jail suspended and five years of supervised probation; and two charges of obtain money under false pretenses, in which she was sentenced to 20 years in jail with 20 years suspended and five years of supervised probation.

In addition Duncan is required to pay $4,025 in court costs and a total of $31,596.65 in restitution.

According to court records and Virginia State Police (VSP), Duncan originally faced more than 30 charges of forgery/uttering, identity theft and obtaining money by false pretenses.

She was not prosecuted on 17 charges of forgery/uttering, two charges of obtaining money under false pretenses and three charges of identity theft.

VSP Public Relations Coordinator Susan Rowland said State Police launched an investigation of the fraud allegations in March of 2012.

Duncan was originally arrested Sept. 29, 2016.
