Longwood University’s seventh annual First Night Faculty Gala Recital, presented by the music department to mark the beginning of the academic year, will be performed Aug. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in Molnar Recital Hall in Wygal Hall.

The recital, free and open to the public, will feature performances by faculty members in both solo and small group situations. A wide variety of musical styles will be represented, ranging from Brahms and Donizetti songs to a ukulele duet to a solo saxophone piece composed by a former Longwood faculty member.

“This concert helps get the academic year off to a good start and also sets examples of performance standards and concert practices for our students and audiences,” said Dr. Lisa Kinzer, chair of the music department.
