Community shines at National Night Out

Hundreds of Farmville residents joined law enforcement and other community partners during the Farmville Police Department’s annual National Night Out event Tuesday — an event that seeks to unite police with those whom they serve. Representing St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at the Longwood Avenue block party were, from left, Michael Helton, Tamara Gilliam and Amy Helton. Not only do we commend their efforts, but we commend the police department for bringing out the good in our community through unification. Gilliam is chairing the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer on Sept. 23 in Greater Richmond. (Send “Way to Go!” photos with a description and names to WayToGo@FarmvilleHerald.com.)
