BUCKINGHAM — Buckingham County Sheriff William G. “Billy” Kidd Jr. is one of 47 sheriffs across Virginia to endorse Republican candidate John Adams, who is seeking the position of attorney general.
“This amounts to more sheriffs backing (Adams’) candidacy than Mark Herring, who’s been attorney general for more than three years now,” officials said in a press release.
Herring, the incumbent, is a Democrat seeking re-election.
The release cited Adams has served in the Navy and as a federal prosecutor and if elected would work as a team with sheriffs across the state to combat Virginia’s heroin and opioid crisis, fight rising gang violence and violent crime as well as ensuring children and families are safe in their communities.
