The Prospect Historical Society will be hosting a Bowling “FUN”D raiser on Sunday starting at 1 p.m. at Main Street Lanes. Cost is $20 per person in teams of four or five members. Debbie Woodson of Sanford, North Carolina, visited her father, Garland Woodson for her vacation. On July 5, her father hosted a birthday dinner, 16 members of the Woodson, Bolt and Southall family came to help Debbie celebrate just a few days early. Her birthday is July 8.

Jeff Smith and his granddaughter, Christina spent last week attending Cajun Week at the Augusta Heritage Center held at Davis and Elkins College in West Virginia.   

On Saturday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith and their children, Brianna, Charles and Christina enjoyed having his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith over to their home for dinner.

On Monday evening the Small Group from Faith Bible Fellowship met for dinner at Merk’s. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. John Utzinger, Mrs. Hilde Watson, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Richard McClintock.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Meadows spent Saturday afternoon with their daughter, Julie, son-in-law, Andy, and granddaughter, Kate Shotwell who were in town from Chicago for the weekend. They also met up with grandson, Josh, at Hutch Restaurant where they all enjoyed lunch. Later in the day they visited with Stewart Shotwell in his new home in Richmond. Then all spent Saturday evening with grandson, Zack and his fiancée, Nikayla, and her family in Chesterfield.

Richard and Margaret Stockton have returned home following three wonderful days in Berea Kentucky where they attended the 68th National Chenault Family Reunion. Cousins came from all over the United States to renew friendships and share family news with everyone. On Friday afternoon and evening, they gathered at the Boone Tavern for a meet and greet time.

Each family group was introduced and a picture taken. On Saturday morning, there was a breakfast followed by a trip to Fort Boonesborough State Park for a tour followed by lunch and the business meeting. On Saturday the Chenault Banquet was held at the Boone Tavern with the keynote speaker being Cabell Chenault providing a lot of interesting Chenault family history.

July 15 was a big day for Mrs. Judy Bolt. Her children Mrs. Jennifer B. Jones and Chris Bolt hosted a birthday party for her at the Farmville Historic Train Station. A large crowd of family and friends came together to help her celebrate her birthday. The food was delicious and there was lots of fun and fellowship.

Mrs. Flora Bolt met with Mrs. Peggy Kelsey and Mrs. Kim Shumaker for lunch at Merk’s Place on Friday, July 15. Peggy is doing better.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for Don Meadows, Peggy Kelsey, George Moore, Judy Derflinger, Frances Moore, George Perkins, Neil Humphries, Frances P. Motley and Betty Jean Bolt.
