Oliver ‘Pete’ Dewayne Short

Oliver “Pete” Dewayne Short, 56, of Dillwyn, died June 11, 2017. He was born July 2, 1960, the only son of the late James and Lottie Short.

He is survived by his daughter, Victoria Terrell and her husband Levi; one grandson, Zechariah; and his son Cody Short; two sisters, Charlene Toney, and the late husband Bill, Doralease Jackson, and husband Lenwood; brother-in-law, Clarence Walters; as well as nieces, nephews and their families; and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Pete was also preceded in death by his sister, Naomi Walters.

He was a member of the United States Coast Guard, a career he came to hold very dear, with memories lasting a lifetime.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff of Lynchburg General Hospital, Guggenheimer Health & Rehab and Farmville Rehab Center.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 24, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Dillwyn.
