Officers from the Longwood University Police Department (LUPD) and Farmville Police Department (FPD) recently participated in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s 12th National Drug Take Back Initiative. According to a FPD press release, the initiative is designed to remove potentially dangerous prescriptions and other medications from homes in our community by allowing citizens to anonymously dispose of them in a safe manner. “The Farmville Police Department and Longwood University Police Department manned a collection site at Midtown Square in the Town of Farmville and collected 217 pounds of prescription drugs during this initiative,” officials said in the release. We commend police for their great work in making our communities safer through this program. Pictured are LUPD Officer Rachel Whitehead and FPD Sgt. Harvey Hoyle with the collected medications.
