How sad that Longwood University chose to remove the lovely Longwood Golf Course sign that for generations has graced Johnson Street, with the years of the five national championships won in Division II play by the women’s golf teams under brilliant coach Dr. Barbara Smith, an accomplishment deserving more attention.

Out of sight, out of mind.

It was done perhaps motivated by guilt over the dirty deed of closing the course to the general public, hoping it will forget.
