Robert ‘Bob’ Carroll Carwile Sr.

Robert “Bob” Carroll Carwile Sr., of Cumberland, passed away June 10, 2017. Bob was born on August 3, 1940 in Buckingham County and is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Beulah Garrett Carwile, his brother, David Carwile, and sister, Lois Carwile Marston.
He is survived by his brother John Carwile, of North Carolina. He is also survived by his brothers, Michael Carwile, of Appomattox, and Steve Carwile, of Prospect and their mother Jeannie Carwile. Bob is survived by his first wife, Arlene Taylor of Farmville; and their son, Robert Carwile Jr., and wife, Samantha, of Burkeville; daughter, Rebecca Carwile, and husband, Hank Hosmer, of Rice; grandchildren, Emily, Bobbi Joe, Robert, Samuel, Rosalie, Eleanor, Brennan, Henry, Amanda, Jacob, and Kait.
Bob is preceded in death by his second wife, Maggie Coffey Carwile, and survived by sons Larry O’Conner, Charles O’Conner, and grandson Robert. He is preceded in death by his third wife, Diane Hall Carwile.
Bob, known by many since his youth as “Buster,” led an interesting and unusual life. He was said to be “cut from a different cloth,” and that he was. Bob will be greatly missed by his many friends and family members.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 2 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of LDS, 1506 S. Main St, Farmville, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Prince Edward Rescue Squad, to whom his children are extremely thankful.
