The Buckingham United Methodist Charge, consisting of Rocky Mount, Hanes Chapel and Browns Chapel, will also be hosting their annual Vacation Bible School at Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, located on Rocky Mount Road Monday through Thursday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. nightly for children of all ages. This year’s theme is “Superheroes.”

Shiloh New Covenant Church, located about five miles east of Cumberland Court House at 665 Anderson Hwy., partnering with Central Virginia FeedMore Program, will be operating The Shiloh New Covenant Food Pantry Commodity Supplemental Food Program for seniors age 60 years and older. Food will be distributed Monday from 1-3 p.m. and they will be accepting applications for new clients. Clients must be 60 years of age or older who are Cumberland County residents. Clients must also bring a form of ID and proof of their monthly income. Also, when qualified for this food program, clients will be contacted by phone from the food bank director as to when they can start food pick up. A large crowd attended a Memorial Day cookout on May 28 at the home of T.J. and Stephanie Waycaster and family, of Powhatan. Everyone enjoyed great food, fun and fellowship.

The Seventh Day Adventist Church at 2294 in Cartersville, which operates a Loaves of Love food pantry, will hold its final distribution as the food bank is closing. This food pantry is designed for Cumberland County residents, including Cartersville. The distribution will be held Wednesday from 3-4:30 p.m. Officials of the pantry would like to thank all of its existing clients for their support while the pantry was here.

The Cumberland County Community Food Bank, partnering with The Central Virginia Food Bank, A FeedMore Program of Richmond, will be distributing food to Cumberland County residents including Cartersville residents on Monday, June 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until all food is gone, located at the old Cumberland County Elementary School cafeteria next door to the gym at 1874 Anderson Hwy. Registration is required. Otherwise, speak with Director Jerry Seal. All food recipients are asked to bring bags.
