PAMPLIN DEPOT BARN DANCE, 6-8:30 p.m. This month’s $5 meal will consist of chicken and the fixings, garden salad, rolls, dessert and tea and lemonade. Admission is free.

JUNE 3

ARTS AND HERITAGE FESTIVAL, 10 a.m. at the Appomattox Court House National Historical Park in the park. The festival events will run from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. though the park will be open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. The event is free and many of the activities will be hands-on, including several that are designed for children.

TRAILS DAY 5K RACE, 8 a.m. hosted by High Bridge Trail State Park. The out and back course will start at the Camp Paradise access to High Bridge Trail, off of Aspen Hill Road 1.7 miles from Route 460. Walkers are welcome. All proceeds benefit the Friends of High Bridge Trail. RELAY FOR LIFE OF NOTTOWAY, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. at the Nottoway High School, 5267 Old Nottoway Road, Crewe.

CELEBRATION OF FREEDOM SERVICE, 10 a.m. at Spreading Oak Baptist Church in Arvonia. Pastor Rochelle Baily, of Rising Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Columbia, will conduct the service.

CHOIR FESTIVAL, 6 p.m. at Gill Hill Baptist Church. Many choirs will be appearing on the program. Everyone is welcome to come out and make this program a success.

LUNCH GIVE-A-WAY, 10 a.m.-noon sponsored by Calvary Baptist Church, Burkeville. Free lunch will include grilled hot dogs, sodas and chips. The event will be held at Jenkins Blue and Gray, Route 460 east of Farmville. Stop by and have lunch.

ANNUAL MEN’S DAY, 4 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church, 14167 Farmville Road, Meherrin. The Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs Sr., pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Petersburg, will be the guest speaker. He will be accompanied by his male chorus and church family. All are invited.

MEN’S DAY, 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Minister James Hurt, Bethel Grove Baptist Church of Rice, and Peaks Baptist Men’s Chorus will be in concert. All are invited to attend.

PENTECOST, 4 p.m. at the Apostolic Faith Church of All Nations. The keynote speaker will be Elder Justin Smith, of Baltimore, Maryland, and featured guest vocalist will be Elder Gayle Jones-Foster along with the Pentecost Fellowship Choir and Praise Team. CHILDREN’S DAY SERVICE, 11 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church, 837 Guinea Road, Farmville. This year’s theme is “Traveling on the Right Road to Get to Your Destination” with the scripture reference Matthew 7:13-14. The guest minister will be the Rev. BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP, noon, at the New Century Hospice office located on the third floor of 201 N. Main St. This group provides opportunities to connect with others experiencing grief and education about moving through the grief process. BICYCLE RODEO AND SAFETY DAY, 9 a.m. sponsored by the Farmville Police Department and Virginia State Park Police and VFW Post 7059 at the Farmville Community Marketplace, 213 North St. The day will include bicycle safety instructions, proper park trail riding etiquette and free bicycle helmets for children (while supplies last).
