Blood donations needed. On Wednesday from noon-6 p.m., come to Heritage Hall for an American Red Cross blood drive. This event is sponsored by the American Red Cross and the Masonic Lodge of the 17th Masonic District. 

Buckingham Extension Services is offering a fun camp for children. Join the Junior Clover Program, for ages 9-13, on May 23 for a 4-H/Grillmaster workshop from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Buckingham Extension Office. Lunch is provided. 

This workshop will feature learning how to grill. Participants will make hamburgers for lunch and will cook four chicken quarters using the famous 4-H chicken-que recipe to take home for dinner. Central Virginia Community Health Center encourages everyone to stay healthy. Join them next week for activities to improve your health, including a new country line dance class. Classes include: Tai Chi at 10 a.m. and CIZE class at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday; Wednesday is Yoga at 5 p.m.; and Thursday is  Line Dancing at 10 a.m. and Body Attack at 6 p.m. On Friday, there is free use of the gym all day.

Join the Buckingham County FFA Club for a car show on Saturday from noon-4 p.m. in the Buckingham County High School parking lot. Classes include: 1950s and before, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, 2000-present, motorcycle, truck, ugliest truck, best overall and People’s Choice. Registration fee is $10. Sarah-Jane French and Rob French, of S&R Meat Goats in Cumberland, were the special guest speakers for the April 4 meeting of the Buckingham 4-H Livestock Club. They spoke on how to raise goats and show them, and they also gave members some tips on training and showing other species of livestock. The Buckingham 4-H Livestock Club generally meets once a month. Club members learn about raising and showing beef cattle, hogs, sheep and goats. Join a fun-filled day at Gene Dixon Ballpark for a Home Run Derby Day on Sunday, May 28. Baseball and softball divisions are available for ages four to adult. Great raffle prizes and concessions will be available. Registration will begin at 1 p.m., and first batter will start around 1:30 p.m. Entry fee is $5 for ages 12 and under and  $10 for ages 13 and over.
