SOUTH BOSTON — The Southern Go Virginia Region 3 Council and its advisory committees will hold a public meeting Tuesday from 3:30-6 p.m.

According to a Go Virginia press release, the meeting will include an orientation workshop for council and advisory committee members and will be held at Berry Hill Conference Center, 3105 River Road, in South Boston.

The release cited Go Virginia as the commonwealth’s “emerging economic development initiative.”

“The mission of Go Virginia is to encourage collaboration among business, education and government in each region on activities that will enhance private sector growth and opportunity, economic competitiveness and alignment of workforce development programs with the needs of the employers in the regions,” Go Virginia officials said.

Members of the council include Prince Edward County Supervisor C.R. “Bob” Timmons Jr., Sherry Swinson, of Longwood University, and Prince Edward County Division Superintendent Dr. Barbara Johnson.
