Longwood Center for the Visual Arts (LCVA) will present its next Art after Dark program: “Local Earth: Finding and Using Native Clays,” on Wednesday, April 12.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for refreshments and the program, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 6:30 p.m.
“The program will feature an artist talk and workshop by Mackenzie Lenhart, LCVA museum preparator and ceramic artist,” officials said in the release. “Lenhart will provide information on finding local clay and demonstrate the use of it in the production of pottery in the lower level of the museum. All attendees will have the opportunity to make their own pinch pot out of the found clay.”
“I’m excited to share the techniques that one can use to create something useful out of materials found locally,” Lenhart said in the release.
