An overturned tractor-trailer hauling chemicals closed Waterworks Road on Wednesday.
The accident, reported at 3 p.m., involved a truck delivering chemicals to the Town of Farmville’s water treatment plant.
Town spokeswoman Kate Pickett Eggleston said the driver of the truck lost control of the vehicle, suffering a minor injury.
“The chemicals that were being carried by the driver included Delpack and activated carbon, which are not considered hazardous,” she said in the release. “An external company will clean up the spill, which consisted solely of diesel fuel, this evening,” she said Wednesday.
