Wright offers scholarship for seniors

VICTORIA — The Tommy Wright Legislative Scholarship will again be offered this year.
The one-time $250 scholarship, according to a press release from Wright, a delegate in the Virginia House of Delegates, will go to “a deserving senior at each of the eight high schools in the 61st District. This will be the 17th consecutive year that this scholarship has been offered.”
Cumberland County Public Schools are in Wright’s district.
“To be eligible for one of these scholarships, a senior must reside in the 61st House District; been accepted to and matriculate to a Virginia college or university,” officials said in the press release. “Part of the application process is that the applicant must write no more than a one- page essay on why this scholarship is important to them.”
Completed applications must be postmarked no later than 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, and mailed to Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 1323, Victoria, VA 23974.
