The Hampden-Sydney College (H-SC) baseball team finished its three-game weekend with a 4-3 Sunday win over visiting Frostburg State University, giving the Tigers a 2-1 record from Saturday through Sunday.
The Tigers trailed the Bobcats for the first five-and-a-half innings but used one big inning to take the win.
Offensively, H-SC had 11 hits to the Bobcats’ 13. Senior Joey Sutphin (Radford/Radford HS) was a perfect 3-for-3, while junior Brian Goodwyn (Chester/Thomas Dale), freshman Chase Counts (Virginia Beach/Ocean Lakes) and sophomore Jacob Fontana (Midlothian/Clover Hill) each had two hits.
Sophomore Trey Celata (Chesapeake/Atlantic Shores Christian) picked up the win on the mound, and senior Michael Flanagan (Moseley/Cosby) earned his second save of the season.
In a Saturday doubleheader, the Tigers defeated Emory & Henry College 10-0 and later lost to the Wasps 5-4.
H-SC (12-7, 1-3 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference) visits Lynchburg College on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
