Police in Cumberland are seeking two suspects in connection with a reported attempted robbery that left one man with a gunshot wound to the leg.
Cumberland Sheriff’s County Office Capt. Dennis Ownby said authorities are seeking a black female in her late 20s or early 30s, and a teenage male who allegedly shot Robert Heath during the reported incident on Oak Hill Road near the Cumberland State Forest Headquarters.
The incident was reported at about 7:40 a.m. Monday, according to police.
Ownby said the victim pulled behind a vehicle along the roadway and approached the female on foot.
According to Ownby, Heath told authorities when he arrived at the front of the car a male popped out from behind the vehicle and pointed a gun at him, demanding his wallet.
According to Ownby, Heath grabbed the gun and started wrestling with the male, resulting in his being shot in the leg.
No money was taken and both suspects fled the scene, according to Ownby.
