On Jan. 29, the Cumberland Charge of the United Methodist Church held a “Hero Sunday” at Payne Memorial UMC in Cumberland.
The entire service was dedicated to celebrating and recognizing the volunteers and employees who serve as firefighters, emergency medical services personnel, police and veterans of the military.
According to a press release, music was provided by the choir and a gospel group from Myrtle Beach, S.C.
“The local Cub Scouts presented colors and led the congregation in the Pledge of Allegiance. A gift bag was given to each hero as a small token of our appreciation. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a loaded baked potato lunch provided by our Charge Youth Group in the fellowship hall,” officials said.
