Police in Farmville are seeking tips in an attempted robbery reported at CVS Pharmacy on South Main Street.
The incident, according to Farmville Police, occurred at about 10 p.m. Monday.
According to a police press release, “The suspect (is) described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a black mask, a white-zippered hooded sweatshirt or fleece, grey pants, black tennis shoes with white trim and a tan ‘trapper’ style hat with fur on the forehead and large ear flaps. The suspect also had a black backpack.”
Police say the suspect entered the business just as it was preparing to close, walked behind the counter and told the clerk to open the register.
“The clerk observed what was thought to be a firearm in the suspect’s pocket, but the suspect did not present any weapons. The clerk ran from the suspect, and the suspect then walked back out the front door without taking anything. There were no customers in the business at the time, and no injuries to store personnel.”
Police say after the suspect left CVS, he was observed on surveillance cameras running between CVS and Pizza Hut — located in a small shopping center beside CVS — toward Hill Street.
Anyone with any information on the incident should contact Detective A.R. Bappert by calling the Farmville Emergency Communications Center at (434) 392-3332.
