Man charged with rape, abduction

Prince Edward County Sheriff’s Office (PECSO) deputies arrested a 23-year-old Farmville man and charged him with several alleged crimes related to actions against members of his family.
According to PECSO Lt. Joe Sprague, deputies arrested Luis Eduardo Herrera on charges of rape, forcible sodomy, abduction, threats to damage a building and three counts of assault and battery against a family member.
“This is an ongoing investigation,” Sprague said. “We received the accusations on Jan. 4 and arrested him Jan. 6 for actions he committed against family members.”

According to Piedmont Regional Jail officials, Herrera is being held without bond. Jail officials said one of the charges he is being held for is arson.
