Members of Buckingham County Middle School’s (BCMS) Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter attended the annual Collegiate Virginia FFA Leadership Conference in October at the Squires Student Center in Blacksburg. Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University’s Department of Agriculture, Leadership and Community Education and Collegiate FFA sponsored the conference.
BCMS FFA members in attendance included Andrew Dragovich, reporter; Tyler Jones, president; Alicia Bartlett, treasurer; Tanner Wise, vice president; Cadence Campbell, sentinel; and Adreah True, secretary.
This year’s leadership conference welcomed approximately 400 student members, representing FFA middle and high school chapters from across the state and featured several agricultural leadership and motivational workshops. The annual conference targets first-year FFA members in sixth, seventh and eighth grades and provides them with the tools and the know-how to succeed as leaders within their respective FFA chapters, communities and careers.
For years, the Leadership Conference has diligently worked to foster leadership within its members. The conference also continues the mission of the FFA, which is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
