Now that the presidential election is over, on or soon after Jan. 20, President-elect Donald Trump should call for a day of prayer and fasting. Such has a precedent; on March 30, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln called for such a day. It is clear to many that God had His hand in the formation of America and in the outcome of the “shocking” results of this election. The U.S. needs to thank God for His benevolence to our country since its beginning and for giving us wise Founding Fathers who understood the value of religious freedom, the work ethic and the benefits of a strong Constitution and a republican form of government.

Among the things for which we need to seek forgiveness are taking His blessings for granted and for the killing of millions of unborn children.

God, the eternal Creator of the universe, the world, and mankind, as well as the Giver and Sustainer of life, knows the end from the beginning. We should seek His guidance and wisdom as we face an uncertain world abroad and multiple challenges at home.
