Walter Lee Moring, 79 Native of P.E. County Dies April 18 in SC

JAMES ISLAND, SC, May 20 – Walter Lee Moring, a native of Prince Edward County, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 18, 2010 at the age of 79 on James Island, SC.
Born May 26, 1930 in Farmville, he was the son of the late LeRoy Daughtry Moring and Grace Claiborne Moring. He grew up on the family tobacco farm at Moran near Rice.
Mr. Moring graduated from Farmville High School in 1948. He was a welder on the Norfolk & Western Railroad at Crewe prior to joining the United States Army, serving in the Signal Corps as a high-speed code operator in Darmstadt, Germany. After leaving the service, he began a career in broadcast radio and television electronics engineering. He retired from broadcast engineering after nearly 30 years with the South Carolina Educational Television Network as a supervisor and as also the transmitter engineer for WCSC TV in Charleston, SC.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Jane Havens Moring; three sons, Walter Lee Moring Jr. (wife Francine) of Columbia, SC, Danny Moring (wife Allyson) of Meggett, SC, and Paul Waldan Moring (wife Kristen) of Evansville, IN; and seven wonderful grandchildren of whom he was very proud.
His robust sense of humor and charitable spirit will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He was a charter member of Harbor View Presbyterian Church on James Island, SC, where memorial services were held. He was laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island
