Clyde Weaver Bradshaw, 101, slipped peacefully away November 19, 2016, with the same courage, grace, and dignity with which he lived his extraordinary life.  A resident of Westminster Canterbury Richmond, he was predeceased by Ruth Weldon Bradshaw, his wife of 62 years.

His survivors include his children, Weldon Bradshaw (Emily) and Ann Bradshaw of Richmond; grandchildren, Jay Bradshaw (Jennifer) of Pensacola, Fla., David Bradshaw (Angela Shelton) of Richmond, Catherine Bode (Gregory Locker) of Boulder, Colo., Taylor Bode of San Francisco, Amy Bradshaw (Will Herring) of Richmond, and Zachary Bradshaw (Erica Tempesta) of Charlottesville; and great-grandchildren, Joshua, Grace, and Wyatt Bradshaw and Blake Emerson.

Born May 27, 1915, Mr. Bradshaw was a proud son of Rice in Prince Edward County and a 1936 Virginia Tech graduate. He served in the European Theater during World War II, rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel, and earned a Bronze Star for meritorious service during the Battle of the Bulge. For many years, he lived in Norfolk where he worked for Weaver Fertilizer Co. and served as president from 1956 until his retirement in 2005.  Mr. Bradshaw was an astute, honest businessman and a wise and trusted mentor.  He lived with honor, purpose, and humility. He treated all whom he encountered with respect and by so doing commanded their abiding respect. Truly a gentleman, he cared deeply about his friends and has left his family an incredible legacy of compassion and love.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Rice.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30, in the Sara Belle November Theater at Westminster Canterbury Richmond.

The family suggests contributions to the Westminster Canterbury Foundation.
