The Farmville Police Department (FPD) charged a Dillwyn man with failure to stop for a pedestrian within a crosswalk after his vehicle struck a 20-year-old man Tuesday.
According to FPD Capt. William “Bill” Hogan, the incident happened around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Third and Main streets.
Hogan said the pedestrian, who suffered minor injuries, was crossing the street in the crosswalk when the 1995 Ford Truck, operated by Frederick Dunn, struck him.
“The southbound truck was turning left onto East Third Street as the pedestrian entered the crosswalk from the south side of Third Street. The pedestrian complained of injury to his side and was transported to Centra Southside Community Hospital by the Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad,” Hogan said.
He said the pedestrian was released from the hospital after being treated.
