Eliza Palmer Beckwith died at her home in Farmville at the age of 79.  She is survived by her sister, Susan Alderman (Joe); her nieces, Eliza Alderman and Preston McAfee (John); her nephews, Allen Gibson (Wendy) and Keith Gibson; and her longtime friend and companion, Judy Johnson.  She was loving and devoted to her family and will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins.

Pam was born in Greenville, SC and grew up with a large, loving family. She graduated from Greenville High School, then Randolph Macon Woman’s College in Lynchburg and attained advanced degrees in History and Political Science from Converse College in Spartanburg, SC and University of Kansas in Lawrence.  She then attended VCU to obtain a degree in Computer Programing.  Pam worked in the garment district in NYC, as an educator in South Carolina and Virginia, and as a computer programmer in Virginia.

She was a kind, thoughtful and loving person and had an unconditional love for both her family and friends.  She was generous, smart and lit up the world around her with her smile.  Pam loved nature and all animals and would rather be in the blueberry fields or on a tractor than just about anywhere. She could shoot a gun, cook a roast pork, use a chainsaw or make a slipcover.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday November 11 at Johns Memorial Episcopal Church in Farmville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Southside SPCA, P.O. Box 66, Meherrin, VA 23954 or a charity of your choice.
