Voters head to the polls

- MARTIN L. CAHN | HERALD Dozens of voters braved the early morning cold before sunrise Tuesday at the Farmville Area Bus polling place to vote in the general election.
Voters are heading to the polls in droves across the Heart of Virginia — deciding who their next President of the United States will be among few local races.
Officials with the voter registrar’s office in Buckingham report heavy turnout so far, while Prince Edward officials report moderate turnout.
Officials in Cumberland were unable to report a turnout level or the number of absentee ballots cast before Tuesday.
Over 560 absentee ballots were cast in Buckingham before Nov. 8, while about 600 were cast in Prince Edward, officials said.
The Herald will post live election results beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
