Officers from the Farmville and Longwood University police departments collected 88 pounds of unused prescription drug pills during the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency’s 12th annual National Drug Take Back Initiative on Oct. 22. The program targets the removal of potentially dangerous prescriptions and other medications from homes by allowing residents to anonymously dispose of them in a safe manner. Farmville and Longwood officers manned a collection site at Midtown Square, including, from left, Longwood Officer Rondell White, Karen Giles with the Prince Edward County Health Department and Farmville Police Department Cpl. Jason Talbott.
