Ann Shepherd Spencer

Ann was born on December 31, 1932 in Farmville. She is preceded in death by her father, William J. Shepherd and mother, Esther T. Stimpson, daughter, Carolyn Ann, son, Bill and her husband of 54 years, The Honorable Robert B. Spencer Jr., two brothers, William Shepherd and Steve Shepherd and a sister, Gwen Carpenter.
She is survived by her son, Robert Bruce Spencer III (Bruce) and his wife, Ellen Edgar Spencer; loving cousins that she lived and grew up with after the early death of her mother, Page Crute Switzer and John Crute.
She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Cybill Shepherd, William J. Shepherd III, Catherine Shepherd Burgess, Debbie Shepherd Feeney, Becky Shepherd Rettenmaier, Steve Shepherd, Tom Carpenter and Shelly Carpenter along with a number of grand nieces and nephews.
Ann attended RPI, was a member of Buckingham County Woman’s Club, Dillwyn Garden Club, Brandermill Country Club, Brandermill Women’s Golf Association, and a member of The Brandermill Church.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother and a friend to everyone she met.
The viewing will be held Friday, October 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Woody Funeral Home, Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Road, Midlothian, VA 23113.
The funeral will be held Saturday, October 29 at 11 a.m. at The Brandermill Church, 4500 Millridge Parkway, Midlothian, VA 23112 with a short reception immediately following at the church. There will also be a graveside service on Saturday, October 29 at 4 p.m. at Dillwyn Town Cemetery, Dillwyn.
