Longwood University hosted its 2016 Walk to End Alzheimer’s last Thursday. The 2-mile walk began in front of Lancaster Hall on High Street and proceeded around campus. Participants who raised at least $100 were given a free T-shirt and others carried pinwheel flowers to support loved ones who have suffered from Alzheimer’s. Students and community members participated in the walk. The organization’s website says the group has raised $9,155 towards its goal of $17,000. The deadline for donations is Dec. 30. Funds raised will go to the Alzheimer’s Association for research and support.
