Officials at Hampden-Sydney College are being quiet about the sudden departure of Police Chief and Director of Public Safety Scott Williams.

“I can confirm that Jeff Gee is acting director of public safety and chief of police,” H-SC spokesman Tommy Shomo said. “In regard to Scott Williams, that is a personnel matter, which we cannot discuss.”

When asked if Williams resigned or retired, how long he served as chief, and how long Gee previously served as chief and acting chief, Shomo said he “would prefer not to comment further.”

The Herald was unsuccessful in numerous attempts to reach Williams.
