On Thursday, Nov. 3 at noon, Cynthia Wood will continue the Fall Lunch and Learn Series with “Invasive Plants.” The program will be held in the conference room of the Prince Edward County Virginia Cooperative Extension Office, 100 Dominion Drive, Farmville.

The program will include information on plants from foreign countries, and possibly other parts of the United States, that have invaded our local ecosystem. When these invaders monopolize landscapes and wild areas, our native plants and animals are put in jeopardy.

Wood is a regular columnist for the Virginia Gardener Magazine. She also writes two monthly columns for the Farmville Herald — one on native plants and the other on general gardening related topics. Cynthia has done volunteer work for local state parks and maintains a blog and website on native plants found in Southside Virginia.

Cynthia is a member of the Heart of Virginia Master Gardeners. She is one of their popular Speakers Bureau presenters. In addition, Ms. Wood belongs to several local garden clubs.

Lunch and Learn programs are sponsored by Virginia Cooperative Extension and conducted by the Heart of Virginia Master Gardeners. Bring your lunch and learn about invasive plants to avoid in your landscape.

The Lunch and Learn program is free and lasts less than an hour. Virginia Cooperative Extension programs and employment are open to all.
