Redbud Garden club holds picnic

Redbud Garden Club members met Sept. 18 at the Angola Hunt Club for their annual family picnic. Geraldine Sanderson, Janet Higgins and Patsy Miessler served as hostesses.
Guests included Chelsea Giles; Lee Fahrner; Katie and Dennis Merkle; Matthew Hazlegrove; Nancy Schaeffer; David Hazlegrove; Joe Higgins and his mother, Elbert Womack; Woodfin Ligon; Steve Dunn; Billy Sanderson; Mike Schember; and Major Thompson.
Geraldine Sanderson led the group in prayer prior to the meal. A bounty of delicious food was enjoyed nearly as much as the fellowship.
Liz Dunn, Mary Hazlegrove, Janet Higgins, Geraldine Sanderson and Jo Smith earned blue ribbons for “Canned Flowers” (an arrangement in in a mason jar, accessories encouraged). Ann Ligon and Sarah Schember received red ribbons. “New Moon” (a crescent arrangement) earned blue ribbons for Ann Ligon and Jo Smith with Janet Higgins receiving a red. Specimen ribbons were awarded as follows: Janet Higgins, 5 blue, 2 red; Audrey Robinson, 2 blue, 2 red, 1 yellow.
