James Robert Phillips, 77, of Pamplin, passed away on October 9, 2016. He was born on September 3, 1939 to the late Donald and Ionia Covington Phillips.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Teresa Carmichael Phillips; three sons, Robert M. Phillips of Appomattox, and Edmund S. Phillips (Pam) and Joshua Phillips both of Pamplin; two grandchildren, Preston and Colin; and a sister-in-law, Lois Pope.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Lee Phillips.

A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 13 at 11 a.m. at Worsham Baptist Church Cemetery.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 12 from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Shorter Funeral Home.
