Cedar Baptist Church, 3932 Bell Road, in Dillwyn, would like to invite everyone to their annual Harvest Festival on Sunday beginning at 12:30 pm. Welcome Wesleyan Church, 26599 North James Madison Hwy., New Canton, will host a benefit pancake supper on Saturday, 5-7 p.m. Supper will include pancakes, sausage, eggs and a beverage, all for a donation. Buckingham Baptist Church, 24234 North James Madison Hwy., Arvonia, will host a benefit for Rose Mannialetti to help offset out of pocket chemo treatment expenses. Activities will include — for a $10 donation — barbequed chicken, baked beans, slaw, roll, dessert and drink. Brunswick stew can also be purchased for $6 a quart. Special music will include Chris Lewis, Noah Hickman, and Roger Woodson and friends.
Things that are good and bad for dogs: 1. Blueberries are good for dogs. Super food rich in antioxidants. Packed with fiber and physiochemical. Good for a frozen treat. 2. Chocolate. Very toxic, because it contains a substance called methylxanthines which stops a dog’s metabolic process. Even a little bit is harmful; the darker the chocolate the more toxic it is.
