Dr. Lizabeth Ann ‘Fisk’ Rand

Dr. Lizabeth Ann ‘Fisk’ Rand, 52, of Victoria, passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, September 28, 2016, in Farmville, following a long illness. Per Liz’s wishes, no visitation or funeral service will be held. Her body has been cremated.

Survivors include her mother, Arla Fisk; her brother, Jed (Debbie) Fisk; her sister, Jo Ellen (Dave) Page; and nieces, Carrie Fisk and Kelli (John) Welp. Her father, Jack Fisk, preceded her in death.

Liz was born July 11, 1964, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She received her B.A. from Coe College, Master’s from Iowa State University and Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska. She was an Associate Professor of Rhetoric at Hampden-Sydney College at the time of her death.

Liz enjoyed cooking, traveling, reading, and most of all time spent at Virginia Beach and Wrightsville Beach. She played the flute in the Jefferson High School band and continued playing for her own pleasure. Her favorite color all her life was purple.

She was a loving daughter, sister and friend, and will be greatly missed. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Liz’s friends, Susan Booker, Jennifer Vitale, Claire Deal, Shaunna Hunter and Kim Epting, who took such loving care of her.
