A 40-year-old Ashland man is charged in connection to a bank robbery reported Friday afternoon at the Dillwyn location of the Farmer’s Bank of Appomattox, located at the intersection of routes 15 and 20.

David Allen Garland was arrested on Saturday, said Buckingham Sheriff William G. “Billy” Kidd Jr. in a press release.

Garland is being held without bond at the Pamunkey Regional Jail in Hanover County for criminal charges stemming from Ashland and Buckingham, according to the release.

In Buckingham, Garland was charged with a Class 2 felony for entering a bank armed with intent to commit larceny, “which carries a maximum life imprisonment or for any term not less than 20 years in jail and a fine of $100,000,” according to the release.

Kidd thanked that law enforcement agencies that assisted with the arrested in Garland’s “quick apprehension.”

The report of the robbery came in at about 4:37 p.m. Friday.

Police said Garland entered the bank and presented the teller a note demanding money. “The teller complied with his wishes by giving him an undisclosed amount of money. The … male fled the bank, without harming anyone,” police said in the release.
