Harvest festival set

The James River State Park, located in Gladstone in Buckingham County, will host its Fall Harvest Festival on Oct. 15 at the park, along with its Night 5K Trail Run.
The festival begins at 1 p.m. at the visitor’s center.
“Enjoy pumpkin carving and painting (pumpkins will be for sale), candle dipping, apple pressing, face painting, 19th century children’s games, an apple slingshot, a candy maze and more,” the park said on its website.
Wagon rides for will be available for $3 per person or $8 per family, and will run every hour from 1-6 p.m.
“Enjoy the sunset and sip hot cider by the bonfire at 6:30 p.m. When darkness falls, take a spooky trail to the amphitheater, then head back to the bonfire for family fun activities,” park officials said on the website. “Goblins will hand out candy. Dress for the weather and bring a blanket, chairs and a flashlight. At 7:30 p.m. is the start of the last race of the ‘Adventures on the James Games’ series with a 5K run through some trails at the park.
