Country Showdown set

Anticipation and excitement is higher than ever as aspiring country music artists prepare for the 35th Annual Krystal Klear Pools and Spas Country Showdown at the Five County Fair on Friday at 6 p.m.

WVHL “Kickin’ Country” 92.9 FM will host America’s largest country music talent search and radio promotion, presented by Jenkins Blue & Gray and Bug Busters Pest Control Services and sponsored by Taylor Forbes Equipment Company, Benchmark Community Bank, Bojangles, Ellington Energy Services, Carwile Auctions, Fairview Auto Sales and Detailing, Crewe Tractor, The Farmville Herald, Third Street Wrecker and Glass, Raymond Insurance Agency, Mottley Emporium, Pearson Equipment Company, Poplar Forest Apartments, Granny B’s Market and A-1 Pressure Washing.

This year’s Krystal Klear Pools and Spas Country Showdown will take place inside the Varner Building during the Five County Fair in Farmville. This will provide the perfect atmosphere to feature the best and most entertaining talent in the area. Kickin’ Country 92.9 FM will have a two-hour broadcast before the show. Food and beverages will be available for purchase as well as carnival rides and games.

Judges for this year’s competition will be local musicians Tray & Jo Ann Eppes and Buffalo Creek Guitar owner and musician Gary Hickman.

Acts will compete for prizes, including a $300 cash prize, and the opportunity to advance to a regional contest held in Pennsylvania. Regional winners vie for a $1,000 cash prize and will advance to the semi-finals competition in the fall. The five semi-final winners are awarded an all-expense paid trip for the televised national final where they will compete for a $100,000 grand prize and the national title.

The Krystal Klear Pools and Spas Country Showdown gives country music artists a chance to launch their professional careers. Audiences may be seeing, hearing, and applauding the next country star.
