Mock debate builds excitement

Longwood University students celebrated the upcoming vice presidential debate in true political spirit: by hosting a mock debate. The event, which took place the evening of Sept. 21, was hosted by Longwood’s Politics Club as well as the university’s Department of History, Political Science and Philosophy. Members of the College Republicans and College Democrats debated on questions posed by three moderators from the host organizations. The questions kept with current event issues and related back to college campus issues, such as how bathrooms on campus should be gendered or if universities should provide free contraceptives. Each party stated its point and moderators kept them within time limits and guidelines.
