Angela Oertel Shelton, 51, of Farmville, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2016.  She was born to the late Walker Davis “Rocky” Shelton Jr. and Theresa Oertel Shelton on December 30, 1964.

Angela attended Cumberland Elementary and High schools, before attending Central Virginia Community College where she received her Associate of Arts and Sciences degree that led to her first professional position with the Private Industry Council and the local Workforce Development Office.  Angela loved her Lord and loved serving her Lord especially through her passion for Emmaus and their ministries.  She loved people and was always available to her friends and family, but also strangers. Angela is truly, “One of the Five People You Meet in Heaven”!  Chances are that Angela has touched your life in one way or another.

She loved animals and she was always surrounded by her pets. She also carried on her Daddy’s love of birds, both wild and those fortunate enough to find a home in one of her birdhouses.  Angela cornered the market on coloring books and crayons! And she had a captive audience in her nieces and nephew.  No one did it better!

Angela is survived by a brother, Leslie Wayne Shelton; a sister, Pamela Shelton Herrmann (John); and three nieces and a nephew, Kayla Dawn Herrmann, Jennifer Lauren Herrmann and Scott Mardyth Herrmann.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 29 at 2 p.m. in Cumberland Presbyterian Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 28 from 5 p.m.–7 p.m. in Puckett Funeral Home.

Puckett Funeral Home, Farmville, is serving the family. www.puckettfh.com
