The Prospect Historical Society thanks all those who purchased a raffle ticket for the shed, gas card and cash. They held the drawing Sept. 6 and the winners were Whitney Perkins, the shed; Bettye Brisentine, the $50 gas card; and David Miller, $25 cash. We congratulate each of them.

The Southall/Woodson Family reunion was held Sept. 10 in the Fellowship Hall of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle. There were about 30 present for the bountiful lunch and hearing all the family news of things that have happened since last year’s reunion. Family came from Williamsburg, Scottsville, Richmond, Chesapeake, with Mrs. Ramona Woodson coming the furthest from Bluefield, W. Va.

The Farmville Woman’s Club met at the Farmville Prince Edward Library for its September meeting. The Farmville Police Department gave a presentation on possible scams. Members brought school supplies for Patrick Henry Boys and Girls Plantation. Peggy Kelsey led the devotions

Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith traveled to Charlotte, N.C., this past weekend to visit with Pat’s cousin and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Schimmel. Other family members also visiting for the weekend were Jim’s sister, Mrs. Annette Frascati of New York City, and Pat’s father, Mr. John Keaveny, and her brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Keaveny, all of Unionville. 

Mrs. Carolyn Boyd and Mrs. Pat Smith met for lunch on Tuesday at the Babcock House in Appomattox. They were celebrating 50 years of friendship, having met their freshmen year and becoming college roommates.

Mrs. Frances Anderson and Mrs. Flora Bolt attended the dinner at the Curdsville Community Center on Sept. 5.

Mrs. Betty Noblin traveled to Chesapeake on Tuesday and stayed until Friday with her grandchildren, Brady and Allie. Their parents had to go back to school to prepare for the coming school year.

There is nothing like breaking bread with friends. Richard Stockton whose birthday was the 11th started celebrating on Friday morning the 9th by having breakfast with Margaret Stockton, Don and Betty Meadows, and George and Shirley Moore at Merk’s Place.

On Saturday night, he had supper with Margaret, and George and Shirley Moore. Sunday the 11th following church, he enjoyed lunch with Margaret, Lon and Mary Jo Stockton and Sean Stockton.

Sunday the 11th, Mrs. Judy Bolt had a birthday lunch for her son Chris Bolt, whose birthday was on the 10th. Those attending the celebration were Mrs. Flora Bolt, Douglas and Betty Jean Bolt, Steve Bolt, Jennifer Page Bolt, Jeni Bolt and sons Joshua and Jacob, Garland Woodson, Halley Murdock, Payden Murdock, and Alexa Moser.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for: Rita Lawhorne, Donald Kellum, Jean P. Derrenbacker, Gail George, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt and Mildred Harvey Shanks.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. They invite you to join them each week on Wednesday evening for Bible study for all age groups at 7 p.m.
