Local Freemasons across Virginia invite the public to come learn about the organization and its rich history.
The Freemasons in Virginia, members of the oldest and largest fraternal organization in the world, will be opening the doors of their Lodge rooms to the public across the commonwealth this October.
As part of the Grand Lodge of Virginia’s “Community Open Lodge Initiative,” officers of Virginia’s Masonic lodges invite members of their respective communities to join them throughout the month of October to learn more about Freemasonry, its history, and its work in local communities. The Grand Lodge of Virginia invites Masons, their families and friends, civic organizations, community leaders, and anyone interested in learning more about Freemasonry to attend these events. Community Open Lodge events will take place throughout October. A full calendar and map of events is available at www.openhouse.vamasons.org. Additional questions can be directed to the Grand Lodge of Virginia.
Freemasonry is the world’s oldest and largest fraternal organization. It is open to men of 18 years old or older of any color, any religion, nationality or social standing who profess belief in a Supreme Being. Freemasonry (often simplified to “Masonry”) enhances and strengthens the character of the individual man by providing opportunities for fellowship, charity, education, and leadership based on the three ancient Masonic tenets: brotherly love, relief and truth. The Grand Lodge of Virginia consists of more than 300 subordinate Masonic Lodges and 34,000 members across the commonwealth.
