At least two people suffered minor injuries early Monday evening following a three-car crash just after 6 p.m. on Milnwood Road in front of Heritage Baptist Church near Price Drive.
Farmville Police Department Sgt. Robert Ragland said one of the victims was driving a red Ford Focus station wagon northbound on Milnwood when they tried to turn left into the church’s driveway.
“They thought the lane was clear,” Ragland said.
The station wagon crashed nearly head-on into a white Chevy Lumina being used as a U.S. Mail carrier vehicle, which was traveling in the opposite direction. The wagon ended up turned sideways across the two lanes of northbound traffic, facing the church, suffering major front-end damage. Another, unidentified vehicle, clipped the Ford while trying to avoid it.
The Lumina ended up just off the southbound lane with moderate front-end damage.
Ragland said one of the victims ended up being transported by personal vehicle to the hospital to be checked out, while others were treated at the scene.
A single tow-truck removed both vehicles from the scene. Ragland said charges are pending.
