Day of Service is set

The Sailor’s Creek Battlefield Historic State Park Visitor Center will host a National Day of Service program Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m.

The public is invited to assist park staff to honor those who lost their lives 15 years ago in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The public will also participate in the ongoing stewardship efforts of the park’s public lands by planting a commemorative sapling and highlighting shared anniversaries between Virginia state parks and the National Park Service.

Robin Snyder, superintendent of Appomattox Court House National Historical Park, will be the guest speaker. Immediately following the program, a small reception will be held on the back patio. This family-friendly commemoration event is free to the general public.
