The mural, on the Third Street side of the Doyne Building, celebrates Farmville’s history as America’s first two-college town. Joe Giles Signs Inc. completed the project, funded by both Longwood University (LU) and Hampden-Sydney College (H-SC).

FDP, LU, H-SC and the community gathered on the sunny morning of Aug. 26 to celebrate the mural.

FDP Program Manager John Burton spoke along with LU and H-SC representatives. Burton dedicated the mural to the students of the two colleges during the ceremony. Later that day, Giles and his team completed the weeks-long project.
