Here we are entering the ninth month of the year; where did the other eight go?

Prospect United Methodist Church will host a free CPR class Sunday, Sept. 11 from 2-4 p.m. The Prospect Charge and the community are invited. Nurses from Centra Lynchburg General Hospital will conduct the class. This is not a CPR Certification, but you will get a participation card. On Aug. 12, Gene and Lois Southall, along with Lois’ daughter, Cindy McPherson, went to the Virginia Diner in Wakefield. There, they met with Lois’ 94-year-old sister-in-law, Lillian Murphy. Lillian’s daughter, Elsie Fagan, and son, Harry Murphy, accompanied their mother. Everyone was there to celebrate Lillian’s birthday, which was Aug. 1.

Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith went to Chesterfield on Saturday afternoon to go shopping and then enjoyed a barbecue dinner before returning home.

Mrs. Martha Agee of Bedford spent Monday to Thursday with Mrs. Betty Noblin. They had a fun-filled few days.

On Aug. 23, Mrs. Flora Bolt and Mrs. Marie Self toured the Historic Appomattox Court House. It was a beautiful day to walk and tour. Following the tour, they enjoyed lunch at Granny Bee’s. Traveling back to Farmville, they visited Lucille at Brookview.

Chris Bolt treated some of his family, Mrs. Judy Bolt, Mrs. Flora Bolt, Alexa Moser, Jennifer Page Bolt and Trau Jones, to lunch on Sunday at the LaParota Grill.

Friends and neighbors are praying for a speedy recovery for: Jean P. Derrenbacker, Gail George, Elfrieda Kerns, Betty Jean Bolt and Mildred Harvey Shanks.

The Rev. Chuck Klotzberger will be at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church on Sunday. The church welcomes Terri Kidd as guest pianist. The members of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invite you to worship with them each Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday school is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. The Rev. Caitlin Hoy will be at Davis Memorial on Sunday.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. The church invites you to join in each week on Wednesday evening for Bible study for all age groups at 7 p.m. The church, 302 Industrial Park Road, is in the former Stackpole-Carbone building.

Grace Chapel, on Simpson Road at Tuggle, invites you to worship each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. for youth and adult Bible study. The pastor is Jeff Spenser and worship leader is Roger Mahan.
